Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina recently awarded grants totaling $359,500 to 46 nonprofits that are working to make life better for people experiencing poverty.
Each of the nonprofits are working to reduce poverty in South Carolina in one of three ways:
- Meeting the immediate needs of people experiencing poverty.
- Breaking the cycle of poverty.
- Working to change systems that are considered to be drivers of poverty.
“Since its inception in 1996, Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina has been addressing the root causes and effects of poverty in South Carolina,” Foundation President and CEO, Tom Keith says. “Nonprofits throughout the state are using these grants to create a path for positive, groundbreaking work that strengthens families and communities experiencing poverty.”
